Meet the Barker Family!
The Barker family’s adoption journey began in 2023, just months after the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Lily, who had been born with complex medical needs. Caring for her opened their hearts in ways they never expected, showing them the beauty, purpose, and profound love found in parenting a child with disabilities. After Lily’s passing, they felt a deep void, and soon, a gentle but unmistakable call to open their home again.
That call became clearer when Holly came across a post about children with Down syndrome in Eastern Europe waiting for families. The entire family felt an immediate connection and stepped forward without hesitation.
Today, after nearly two years of preparation, the Barkers have been matched with a four-year-old girl living in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. She faces significant developmental delays and requires extensive support — needs the Barkers feel deeply prepared to meet. With four children at home who are eager to welcome a new sister, the family is filled with hope and excitement as they work toward bringing her home.
Their journey is one of courage, healing, and love and they can’t wait for the day their daughter is finally in their arms.
